about

Jelena Zivkovic (b. 2000) is a London-based artist, currently studying MA Painting at the Royal College of Art.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including UAE, Serbia, and the UK.

Jelena’s paintings are shrines to the intimacy of the domestic and the relationships that lie within it. Gesso is used to suspend household fabrics onto a wall, inviting the viewer to consider the smaller, mundane moments in everyday life.
The configurations of the fragments of fabric depend on the wall they will become a part of; they are ever-changing. The objects are an intuitive and highly sensitive response to edge, colour, texture, and surface, made of the artist’s personal items and materials used for their original function before. Sometimes the fabrics are embellished with more. The drawn or painted images are used as a way to explore the artist’s non-memories and ghosts of images originating from her life.
